Maxxis ACU British MotoX Championship

9th March- Donnington

The MotoXtreme Kawasaki Team went to Donington Park for the First Round of the 2008 British Championships with 3 riders in action, Sam Davis in the MXY2 class and in the MX1 class Mark Hucklebridge and George Davis.
The MXY2 class were the first out on track for their qualifying session and with many of the entrants in their second season in the championship, Sam Davis in his first year in the class had an excellent showing posting the 6th fastest time.
In the MX1 qualifying both Mark Hucklebridge and George Davis made the cut.Huck posted 15th best time, despite still struggling with a rib injury picked up at Hawkstone Park the previous weekend, and George Davis got 32nd place.
Showing no fear in his debut race at this level Sam Davis got a storming start in the first MXY2 moto and grabbed an awesome holeshot, much to the delight of the MotoXtreme Crew, Scott Elderfield was hot on his heels though and got past to move into first place on lap 2. a lap later Tom Watts also passed Sam. With Sam riding a composed race he was unfortunately demoted into 4th with 4 laps to go by Ed Allingham, but a crash for Watts saw him move back up and claim an excellent 3rd.
With his bike hooking up real good, Sam got the holeshot again in the second moto, but he was down to 3rd place by the end of the 1st lap, James Hutchinson and Allingham both got passed him early on but with 2 laps to go and Josh Spinks out in front 2nd and 3rd place both crashed giving Sam another 3rd place, and second overall on the day after losing out to Elderfield by one point.
In the opening lap of the first MX1 moto, George came round in 20th with Huck one place behind him, but with Huck moving forward fast, George slipped back to 26th. At the midway point Huck had made his way into 10th position but with a big gap to 9th spot he rode smooth and stayed 10th until the finish. George was involved in some mini battles lower down the field and eventually had to settle for 24th after being passed by Jamie Skuse on the last lap.

A better start from Huck in race 2 saw him come round on lap one in 10th place but with George down the pack in 27th, with passing becoming difficult on the Donnington Circuit there wasn't much overtaking all through the field, after slipping a position early on Huck regained 10th and stayed there until a last lap pass saw him snatch 9th from Michael Phillips. As in the first race George was hovering around the mid 20's and at race distance he crossed the line in 25th place.
Huck's scores of 9th and 10th gave him 23 points and 9th overall on the day, but George's finishes left him outside of the points in both races despite riding well all through the day.
