ACU British MMX Championship

6th April- Whiteway Barton

The MotoXtreme Kawasaki Team were at full strength for the Second Round of the 2008 British MMX Championship at Whiteway Barton in Devon with Mark Hucklebridge and George Davis in the Open class and Sammy Davis in the Under 21's.
Despite heavy snow fall early on the morning by the time qualifying started track conditions were near perfect. The Open class were out first and with Huck going well he set the Fifth fastest time, George came in lower down the order in Nineteenth. In the Under 21 class Sam qualified in twentyfirst position in a tight group with just Six seconds covering the top forty!
The Open class race one got underway with both MotoXtreme rider's in midpack through the first turn, Huck soon advanced into fifth place by the end of the first lap and George came through in tenth, Huck was soon hot on the heels of Jordan Rose in forth but a mistake saw him slip back a position but he soon moved up when he passed Micheal Phillips and a fading Richard Lawson, now in forth he went after Rose again, with Wayne Smith and Bryan Mackenzie out front in first and second respectively third was the best Huck could hope for and on the final corner he made a move inside of Rose and snatched the third place at the death, George meanwhile was riding a solid race and made progress into seventh position but with two laps to go Dave Yelland snuck past him and he settled for eigth place.
A better start in race two from Huck saw him in third place on the opening lap, with George again coming through in mid pack, Bryan Mackenzie was out in front with Danny Smyth in second and they soon pulled out a small gap from Huck who had Wayne Smith right behind him. Smith passed Huck on lap three but he stayed with him and re-took third on lap seven, then right near the end Smith got back past to take third and held on to the end coming in behind Smyth in first and Mackenzie in second, with Huck forth. George again rode well and moved into 14th on lap four and stayed there until the end.
Huck's haul of 38 points saw him end the day in third overall behind Smith in first on 45 points and Mackenzie in second on 44 points, George claimed 20 points and came in twelth overall

The Under 21 first race didnt start well for Sam when a crash saw him go through the track fencing and remount in thirtyninth position, he started charging and soon made his way upto thirtythird, another crash saw him go back down to thirtysixth but he never gave up and kept going until the finish eventually coming home in twenty ninth.

Race two again started badly for Sam when a crash infront of him gave him nowhere to go apart from down, but by the time he got the bike restarted he was in dead last with alot of work to do, he pushed on and soon caught up with the pack and picked off riders reguarly getting up to twentysixth by lap ten, he managed to move up another position before the end of the race and finished twentyfifth. Unfortunately despite his best efforts Sam failed to score any points in either race.
