Maxxis ACU British MotoX Championship
17th August- Brampton
| Team MotoXtreme Kawasaki made the long trip north to Brampton near Carlisle for the Maxxis British Motocross Championships. Mark Hucklebridge was competing in the MX1 class, James Dodd in MX2 and Sam Davis was in the MXY2 class, which was in it's final round. Heavy overnight rain had made the sandy track very damp and tricky but there was a dry weather forecast for the Sunday's racing. |
|
Sam was out first in the MXY2 pactice session and did well to set the 7th fastest lap time.
A decent start in race 1 saw Sam complete the first lap in 7th but with a mistake on lap 2 he slipped back to 10th. He quickly started to make his way back thru the field and was back upto 6th by just after the midway point, the top 5 were away though and Sam would have to settle for 6th at the finish.
A slighty better start in race 2 saw Sam in 5th, he stayed there for the first 3 laps before moving up to 4th, but 2 laps later a mistake saw him slip down to 6th and then a further mistake saw him move further down the order to 10th. With only 2 laps now remaining Sam couldn't improve on his position and finished 10th
His results on the day were enough for 8th overall on the day and he finished the championship in 3rd overall.
FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS:- 1st Ed Allingham 151points, 2nd Josh Waterman 139 points, 3rd SAM DAVIS 110 points

The MX2 class saw James Dodd competing and he qualified in 25th place.
He was in around 20th position away from the start in race 1 but half way around the first lap, a mistake saw him off track and trying to restart the bike. a full lap went by before he could get regoing again. He completed 4 laps but was so far behind that he decided to retire.
A poor start in race 2 saw James in 28th position after a lap but he was struggling to get himself in to a rhythm and stayed in the low 20's throughout the race eventually finishing in 26th, which wasn't enough for any points.
He is now 38th in the championship on 6 points with one round to go.

In the MX1 class Mark Hucklebridge could only manage to set the 18th fastest lap time.
A mid-pack start in race 1 saw Huck complete the first lap in 16th position but after 3 laps he slipped back a place, but with passing difficult he took a while to move back up and more than half the race had gone before he got back into 16th, he managed to pick up a couple more positions before the finish and would cross the finish line in 14th.
The start of race 2 saw Huck squeezed out and forced to shut off the gas, leaving him near the back, he finished the first lap in 29th position. He was charging through the order though and was soon up to 20th after 3 laps, Huck continued to pick up positions and by the half way stage he was up in to 14th, but the field was now spread out and this was the best he could manage and, as in race 1, he crossed he finish line in 14th.
Huck's two 14th's were enough for 14th overall on the day with 14 points! He is now 9th in the championship on 124 points with one round to go.
