Maxxis ACU British MotoX Championship

13th April- Torrington

The MotoXtreme Kawasaki Team of Mark Hucklebridge, George Davis, Sam Davis and Arran Poolman travelled down to Devon for the third round of the British Motocross Championship (round 2 of the MXY2 series). With conditions perfect on Saturday, torrential rain all through the night made the track a quagmire in time for the racing on Sunday.
Sam Davis was out first in the MXY2 qualifying session, with the track already in a terrible state another heavy shower of rain fell throughout making things real tricky, but he rode well and posted the tenth fastest lap time.
The MX1 qualifying was a lottery with many sections of the track almost unpassable following the rain during MXY2 qualifying but Huck. George and Arran all went out to try and set good lap times. Huck posted the seventh fastest time, Arran did well with twentythird but George couldnt get a solid lap in and ended up fortyfirst, but was hopeful of getting a ride as a reserve.

The sun was shining by the time the first race was ready to go of the line and the track was drying out but it was well messed up by now with knee deep ruts everywhere.

Sam was up first in the first MXY2 race but a poor start saw him involved in a first corner crash where he went down and struggled to restart the bike. When he finally got going he set off after the main pack, with riders crashing everywhere in the tricky conditions he soon started passing his rivals, but he took a few small tumbles himself and hovered around twentyfifth position until the end but was unfortunatly disqualified after being deemed to have recieved outside assistance in restarting after the first lap crash.

In MX1 race 1 both Huck and Arran came round the first lap safely with Huck in eigth and Arran in twentieth. Huck was on the charge and made his way up the order and was soon in fifth but after stalling the bike in a deeply rutted corner he moved back to sixth and looked set to stay there until the finish but a nasty crash for Brad Anderson who was placed in second saw him move up and take fifth at the flag. Arran made a mistake on lap three and moved down the field into thirtieth place but fought on and took twentyfifth place come the end.
With the sun still shining Sam pulled a massive holeshot in the second MXY2 race but a mistake saw him slip right back to twentysixth early on, he was flat out on the gas though and pulled his way up through the order and was soon back up to thirteenth. He carried on passing and claimed eleventh at the finish for ten valuable championship points.
MX1 race 2 started with all three MotoXtreme riders on the line after George got in as a reserve. Arran got a good start in sixth but a early crash saw him move to the back, Huck was hauling again and came through in fourth after a lap and George came round in sixteenth. Huck soon moved into third passing his cousin Tom Church in what was to become the battle of the day. A crash on lap two saw George come round at the back with Arran, after four laps Arran pulled in to the pits and called it a day and George was riding round in twentyseventh but also pulled out of the race after nine laps. The battle of Marshfield was still going on though with Huck and Church both passing Jordan Rose to move up to second and third respectively. Billy Mackenzie had checked out in first leaving the race on for second, the two cousins were trading places throughout but with two laps to go Huck managed to stretch a small lead over Church and would hold on to take a fantastic second at the finish, and a brilliant third overall on the day giving him his first British Championship Podium for two years.
